Halloween Crafts

Here are a few cute Halloween crafts to get you in the mood.

HAUNTED HOUSES

You Need:

  • Black, gray & brown construction paper
  • White, orange & yellow tissue paper
  • glue
  • scissors

Take one piece of gray paper as the background for your artwork.  If you can put it on top of a black piece of paper, so that the gray paper is just a little smaller then the black it looks really cool.  If it’s too much trouble just skip that step and use the plain gray paper.

Take the brown and or black paper, fold it in half and cut pieces of wood, bricks, cement blocks, etc., any items you can use to form the house.   You can also cut out a tree, or draw it in if you prefer.  Use the tissue paper to make ghosts, clouds, pumpkins, leaves, etc., whatever you can think of.  You can also cut out black cats, witches, moons, and bats.

Once everything is cut out you can put together your haunted house.  Start by gluing the strips to the gray paper to form the house and then add all your extras.  An active imagination will get you some really great haunted house pictures.

WIRE CREATURES

You need:

  • Wire coat hangers
  • Squares of tissue paper (Halloween colors)
  • Construction paper scraps
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Take the wire hanger and shape it into a circle, with the hanger at the top.  It’s easiest to start by pulling the hanger into a diamond shape.  You can achieve this by holding onto the top of the hanger and pulling on the center of the bottom.

Once your circle is formed, place it on the tissue paper and trace around the outside of the circle.  Place another piece of tissue paper under it and cut out the circle.  Be sure to cut your circle bigger, leaving about a one inch border.

Put your glue all around the of one piece of your tissue paper.  Put the hanger on top and then lay the other piece of tissue paper on top.  Press the edges together gently and seal the hanger between your pieces of paper.

Using the construction paper, cut out different things to place on your creatures.  Examples for this craft would be to use orange tissue paper to form a pumpkin.  Then cut out your eyes nose, mouth, leaves, lines and stems and glue them on to form your pumpkin.  You can also do a black cat, a bat a witch or even a ghost.
